Hello I am looking at buying a 1995 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 4.3 V6 and an automatic. It has 249,000 miles but it looks to be in good shape. There was also quite a bit of work done to it. Is this a good truck to buy. Link to ad included. Thanks

There was also quite a bit of work done to it.

That's what the ad says, but I would put my faith in approximately 0% of that, and have it inspected by a professional instead.

It's an old truck and it's going to need constant attention because everything is going to be on it's way out. Rubber. Plastic. Even the metal fatigues and hinges start not closin properly. So I hope you're mechanically inclined and can fix your own stuff. And if you are, then you would probably already know that $2300 is too much for an almost 30yo high mileage truck. I would never pay that. He says he's firm , so frankly I wouldn't even waste my time on it. But I'm also not desperate for a vehicle, so it depends on how badly you want it, and how much trucks are going for in your area. Do your research.

You're gonna want to look for rust, and you'll want to check the engine for coolant leaks because that's what the 4.3 original intake gaskets did. Now hopefully it didn't leak internally and fill the crankcase with coolant.

If that's the original transmission, and it wasn't babied its whole life and fluid changed on the regular, then it's going to be one sick puppy. It's 50k past it's average lifespan. So make sure you take it on a brisk test drive as well.

The story sounds fishy to me. If you were getting rid of a vehicle because you didn't need it, would you spend all that money putting parts into it?
