hey Scott Kilmer I've been watching your videos for a long time buy I have a car that I need help with it's a 1995 subaru legacy wagon I pulled the old transmission out an put a used on in now I can't turn it over or turn the eninge by hand any idea that would help me fix it this is my first car I have ever Owen out right an would love to keep it
Some wiring must have been disturbed when you swapped out the transmission, go back and double-check it. Is the neutral safety switch mounted on the transmission? If so that would be a prime suspect.
@chucktobias thank you everything is but what's going on is the eninge will not turn if I losen the trans bolts I can spine the eninge with some force but that's about it
@gadgehp Go back over your work and check it. You might need to pull the transmission to see if the problem persists. The odds of a 30-year-old used transmission being good are pretty slim.
@chucktobias ok so I got it running now it's stuck in Neutral?an I can't shift at all any ideas on that one
I got it running now it's stuck in Neutral?
Clutch may not be releasing all the way. Can you shift it when the engine is not running? (Is it a manual transmission? You didn't specify.) If so that may be the problem. Other than that it could be a shift linkage problem, internal transmission problem, or even bad motor mounts if they allow the engine to move around.
This is really another question so if you want to explore it in more detail it should be posted as a separate topic.
