I have 1996 jeep cherokee 4.0 210k miles
It starts but dies after 1 second on. Died while going about 35 miles per hour after city driving.
Fuel pump seems to be working. What should I do since I do t think is worth spending too much money on it.

Get a mechanical fuel pressure test and check your fuel filter. Has it ever been changed?
Bought it when it had 180k and I have never change it
New filters are about $20 everywhere and are accessible and easy to replace. The fuel pump, however, is inside the tank.

It could be the fuel sending unit. Is the check engine light on your car?
