1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 360,000 Miles

Hey Scotty, 

I got a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 360,000 Miles, its still on its original engine and transmission, Im basically the original owner since I bought it used with 5,000 Miles, what do you think?

Congrats? I mean, of course that's great that you got that much out of it. Back then, Jeep was actually making decent product. 

Unfortunately in more recent times the same can not be said. But see how far you can go. Maybe you'll be the next million-miler! 


You had it since 5k miles, you got yourself a good SUV.


The engines available on Grand Cherokees of that vintage are very robust, both updates of 1960s-vintage engines. (The AMC/Jeep 4.0 of course was based on the old Rambler inline six, and the Mopar "Magnum" 5.2 V8 was an update of the old-school 318.) They can run nearly forever if maintained. The weak point is the Chrysler 4-speed automatic transmission but obviously yours has stood the tests of time and high mileage. With proper care I'd say 400K-500K miles is not out of the question.
