1996 Nissan Pathfinder slow cranks when outside temp is high

So I've been having intermittent starting issues. The only consistent variable I've noticed is when it's been sitting in the sun for a bit or if I drive it and then shortly after try to start it again. It will slow crank and not start unless I basically crank let off crank again while it's still spinning and then again a third or even fourth time. If don't attempt subsequent cranks while it's still (slowly) spinning from the previous attempt it won't start at all. 

Other times, when it's cool outside and or the sun hasn't been out and it's my first attempt of the day, it starts right up like it ain't got no problem. I suspect a bad ground. It has a brand new starter and battery already. I replaced the battery because when it wouldn't start, sometimes I could get it to start if I charged the battery to completely full with a battery maintainer or if I swapped in a fresh fully charged battery or if I jumped it. Then the mechanic I had look at it said it was the starter going out and drawing too much current. So I replaced that. Started right up until eventually displaying the same issue. Then I replaced the power cable to the starter bc it was corroded. Which seemed to help initially??? But then the ghost reappeared again. I also replaced the battery terminals. I notice the negative terminal is run to the alternator only. Is that stock?? Shouldn't it be run to the chassis? Anyways, I suspect a bad ground strap somewhere but I admit I don't know where the straps are in this vehicle to check them. Also I don't completely understand the relationship to heat. Now that it's getting colder here in the south esp after Zeta, it's not having trouble starting even after I've been driving which usually it will automatically have difficulty starting after I've been driving making me paranoid about shutting the engine off when I go somewhere.

Find tighten grounds and look for more corrosion.
