I just purchased a 1996 Celica with 142,000 miles with a 1.8L four cylinder and a automatic for $800. I got the Celica from neighbor. The body Is in good shape with no rust, but a dent the size a half dollar on right front fender. The heat and A/C work and I will replace Timing belt and water pump before I replace my current daily driver a trusty, but high mileage 1987 Reliant.

Any known issues should be aware with the Celica?

No just do usual checks. Constant velocity joints and boots for rips. Turn hard right and left at slow speed see if you hear noise. Look for grease slinging from bellows (boots)...look for any gas filters (external) change.   Usually great cars

No, the Celica does make any noise like my K car did when I went around corners at low speed. The Celica does not run on or thirty seconds like the K car does.
