Hi Scotty,
I bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty in March 2019, with 93k miles on it, one owner, no accidents, and a pretty solid maintenance record. Since then, I've: replaced the starter, battery, brakes, tires, water pump, air conditioning condenser, starter relay, rack and pinion bar, power steering return hose, transmission pan, and other undercarriage work. I have run the miles up to 133k since then.
It feels like every time I turn around the car is breaking down. I overpaid for it (bought it at a used car dealer who wouldn't budge on the $6700 price tag), and have put over $3000 into it with all the above. My cousin is a mechanic and has done much of the work, so the repair cost would be higher.
My question: Do I keep it at this point because it's the "devil I know"? Am I "over the hump" with the normal wear and tear of an old car? If I shouldn't keep it, then what should I do? I don't have a lot of money to come up with for a newer car right now but hope to save up over the next year.
Thanks so much,
Jodi C.
It's not worth a lot at this point, seems like you are stuck with it. But winter is best time to off it. You could replace it with a corolla to get you to a place where you can buy a better car, but stay away from Chrysler fiat jeep.
Thanks. I have to have a four-wheel-drive where I live.
