1997 4Runner limited RWD
I heard that there’s something called a halfmoon cap, that should be addressed when changing the valve cover gaskets, are they supposed to be replaced to?

If they are made of rubber you replace them but some are made of aluminum and you just put a little gasket material on top of them glue so that the valve cover gasket stays on them
