Hey scotty how are you I'm looking to buy a 1997 Ford Taurus Wagon for 1,500 it has 109,000 miles on it and it was driven by a elderly lady who can't drive anymore it sat for awhile I went to go see it today and it started right up the car itself is nice and clean both inside and out what's ure take on it and how can I customize it
That should be a sweet deal if a mechanic gives OK for the car.
@yaser
Ok thanks
Just keep in mind that the 24 valve 3.0 engines are much harder to work on than the 12 valve versions. I've owned both and the things I've had to do on the 24 valve took significantly longer than on the 12 valve. Having said that, everything I've tackled has been doable. I have a 2000 sedan with the 24v engine right now. It has 160K on it and drives and rides great.
Transmission is usually the weak point for these vehicles. Pay close attention to the ATF and how it shifts.
I would think that is a pretty good deal, if it checks out. Be prepared to do some things to it over the next couple years.
@clovishound
I don't plan on keeping it for long just for the time being
Yeah transmissions were weak. Smell fluid if it smells burnt pass on it. If it checks out it may be cheap ride. Good luck
