Hello scotty
I recently purchased a 1997 hond accord 2.2 with an automatic transmission from a private seller for $1,200 It has 180,000 miles. I did a dry compression test all 4 cylinders range from 105 to 120. I also did a timing belt kit (with water pump and gaskets) changed the valve cover gasket since it has some miles on it (with the spark plug gaskets) changed the spark plugs and serpentine belt. Just wondering if there is anything else I should do (besides drain and fill the automatic transmission with honda atf fluid)? Trying to have it run another 100,000 miles. Thanks for all you do I have learned a lot since watching your YouTube.
Thanks from Brian
Aside from changing your fuel filter and differential oil and lube the body and suspension grease fittings, I'd say you've got it pretty much covered. Clean the MAF sensor and get a new PCV valve too.
Thank you Doc. I'll have to do the things you suggested. First time owning a honda so I'm hoping it will be a good investment.
Besides what @Doc mentioned, adjust the valves too.
Good thought, thanks.
Thank you @Doc.
@doc @ yaser. Did the valve lash adjustment. Honda forum said .11 intake .13 exhaust. I did it today. It seems/sounds really good. Looked like 3 and 4 cylinder was pretty tight when I put my gauge on it .
Great job, Petrobrian!
