Good Afternoon Mr. Kilmer,

I am hoping you might give me some insight on what could be wrong with my 1997 Rav4 manual transmission with 185,000miles. 5 months ago it was starting to idle rough and lose acceleration. Before I could take it to a mechanic I trust it just died. He changed the fuel pump because it didn't pass the test. New battery since old one showing replace on his tester. Still not able to start. He also changed the igniter, cam sensor, crank sensor, distributer, spark plugs, coils, check all relays, wires, grounds. Two mechanics have looked over the Rav4 to make sure all tests out to toyota specifications. Unfortunatly the vehicle still won't start. $1,200 spent and I still have a dead toyota. I enjoy watching the videos you make and they are useful. I've watched many hopeing to get an idea of something the mechanics have missed.

Thank you

Dan

You said he changed plugs and coils, he did the plug wires with that right?

Who is your mechanic, Ray Charles?  I would quickly find a competent mechanic who will run the codes and fix the problem without using the "let's throw parts at it" approach.

No kidding, talk about throw crap at a wall method.

You can do an initial diagnosis yourself. Also do yourself a favor and find a good mechanic.
