Hey Scotty
what's the best engine oil for this vehicle, Perth, Australia. Local auto store suggesting 5W30. Is Castrol Magnetic any good. The car has 171,000 kms, also the gearbox is wining a little on acceleration and decceleration.

Stick to the car manufacturer ‘s recommendation for the oil.
Castrol brand is a good choice.
