So our shop truck has been acting wonky lately. It is a 1998 Chevy Silverado 1500 V6 4.3 with over 310k miles. I've been working here for only a year so I'm assuming they do routine maintenance on the truck since it's lasted this long, but recently there has been an issue that only happens while sitting still at idle. When one of my coworkers pulled up to the shop and parked, the engine immediately started trying to cut off. Every 2 or 3 seconds rpms would drop suddenly and it would almost shut off, but then it would go back to idle. It kept doing this and wouldn't stop. Anyone have any idea why this would happen?

Search for vacuum leaks. Especially around the intake manifold.
