Scotty, I recently replaced the universal joints on my rear driveshaft..... Boy was it a bugger doing them too. I had to even use a torch to get them out. Well, to make a long story short it has a driveshaft with 3 joints the yolk, some strange knuckle/heim joint, and the rear mount. After replacing them it had a strange vibration.... Recently it seems worse at times and sometimes not so much. I think from all the pounding I did with a mini sledge, I might have bent something. My question is since I used Moog universal joints, should I try to go back with an original Spicer universal joint and see if that solves the problem or should I replace the driveshaft completely??? If I do replace it, who makes a quality replacement driveshaft and does it need to be a 3 joint deal? As I recall my 97 Ford Expedition only had a standard 2 joint driveshaft and it was a 4x4. Also what length and would a quality used driveshaft suffice? Any help and info would be greatly appreciated.....I'm stumped especially since every aftermarket driveshaft I've seen is only 2 joint.....thanks Michael.
I would recommend taking your driveshaft to someone and have them try test/balance it. They can also measure it properly and tell you the proper length. That will also allow you to source a used one if it is not bent either. Also what month was your expedition made?
