Hello all, I’m trying to fix up my Dads old truck, but the Transmission is messed up. It started out (from my dads description) just slipping every now and then. But the way he described it was weird. It was like it would almost just drop out of gear every now and then. So dad tore it down to replace one of those fluid pumps in the transmission (I don’t know what they are called lol). But when he put it back together, now it will only shift into drive. You put it in reverse, it goes forward. You put it in neutral it goes forward. The only gears that even work right is drive and park now. And it hasn’t been tested for slipping. Dad checked those gaskets that you are supposed to check. Where all the little channels are. And they seemed fine. The pump he put in is good too. This is throwing me for a loop. Is the transmission just bad? Thank you for any info you can provide. Btw, my dads truck has 327,000 miles on it and this is the second transmission (Unknown mileage).
Bump
Well I'm assuming that it didn't do all that before he took it apart so obviously put something in backwards or or something they're very complex transmissions I do it yourself guy really can't fix those things anymore they're too complicated
