Hi Scotty LOVE your Channel!! 🙂 Over a year ago, I bought a brand new 2020 Nissan Frontier. Largely for its price and history of reliability. My beef! The new 9 gear transmission freaking sucks!!! The first 3 gears are horrible! I now have whiplash in my neck from the number of times the gears downshift and smash into a lower gear after a significant hesitation. I feel bad for anyone with this transmission who might get stuck in traffic. The hunting gears at lower speeds is absolutely unacceptable. I wish I had driven this car for a week before purchasing. If I could return this piece of S**t I would. The truck has good power, and off road durability. But they made a big mistake adding the additional 3 gears. Ugh 🙁
That’s why I usually recommend to members considering the Frontier to look at older ones up to (and including) 2019 model year with their true and tried powertrain (with the 5-speed AT). 9 gears is overkill and potentially asking for trouble over time (in terms of longevity) and - along with the 3.8L V6 (VQ38D) - still fairly new in the Frontier application (both introduced for 2020 model year).
There's a reason why you don't buy a new car. You only buy a new car if it's the last model year where they perfect all the issues.
The importance of a good long test drive, both in the city & on the highway, before purchase, is underrated..
anybody wanna buy a 2020 nissan frontier for 39k?
🙂
