Hello Moderators and people my jeep engine seized at 220 000 or so miles and i was due for a rebuild, so I had the idea to stroke and bore it out, my question is this the best idea for this car considering it has already all those miles and putting more power than it did stock? maybe my transmission might go out or diff assembly I don't want it to be more of a headache in the future for me
Don't do any mods if you want it to last, anything that plays with the manufactur specs would have part with the life time of the engine and transmission, those are my thoughts.
I agree with JCVp1985 on this. Check your transmission fluid look for any metal debris and replace it, if you have not done so, as well as the lube in your differential and get it inspected first. But if you have the money. I would overhaul everything with good quality parts. Who knows you may get another 220k+ out of it if you plan to keep for a long time.
I wouldn't do that on a Grand Cherokee due to the weak Chrysler transmissions. It's a popular upgrade on the Cherokee XJ since the Aisin-Warner automatic is a lot more robust. The strokers are usually made by dropping in the crankshaft from an AMC 258 six, which is the direct ancestor of the 4.0.
