I'm looking at a private party sale for 1999 Dodge RAM van 1500 V8 5.9L 186000 miles. Owner said it needs power steering pump, water pump and brake lines. He put in new fuel pump, wheel bearings, master cylinder and catalytic converter. He's letting it go for $500. Any advice for this deal? Anything I should consider? It seems like a great deal to me. Thanks!

Only if you're mechanically inclined. Otherwise it's going to be a money pit.

Well let's face it you're getting a thing practically free. But it probably needs a lot more work than what he's saying if you're willing to put a ton of work into rebuilding the engine and transmission then maybe but if you don't want to do that kind of work I would not buy it
