The heat and A/C in my auto trans 99 civic with 45,000 miles blows through the dash vents but when I change the mode dial the air doesn't come out through the defrost vent or the floor vent. Is this a DIY or do I need a mechanic?

you'll have to take the dash apart and realize those are all electronically controlled and without a dealer level scan till you really can't do any bi-directional testing to see what is broken
