Bought this 99 ody for 1300. Has 3.5 motor. Needed a timing belt water pump job. Which had a backyard mechanic do. Took him several days. Got it done. Timing perfect. But at one point he couldnt get the crank pulley off so he sawed half of the lower timing belt cover off. Omg. So thats exposed. His mechanic friend came by got it off. Didnt have a diff one to replace it at the time. Noticied the engine mount close to the coolant reservoir is shot. Can I be fine driving for a couple weeks till new one from ebay comes in? Did drain and refill for trans twice, two quarts at a time. Fluid seems a lot fresher and shifts pretty smooth. Oil was really dark, did oil change today. Fluid now looks like honey. If bad dirty oil caused damage would it show in the compression? Because compression is cherry all clynders showed about 150-180. We did not test two in the back but figured its around the same. Engine runs pretty good. Will it be ok for a month or two with the lower timing cover like that?

I noticed earlier today as I started the car, before I shifted into gear. It died???? Hasnt happened since.

That is what is referred to in the business as a "hatchet job". Better replace that timing cover ASAP.

It is not a smart idea to drive the car like that.
