my sister in law has a 2017 Ford Edge 2.7
dealership said that she’s loosing coolant into a cylinder. She’s going to need a new engine according to the service manager. Have you heard anything like this why not just replace the bad gasket.

Since you mentioned "service manager" it means you made the mistake of going to a dealership. Find an independent mechanic who will test it for a blown head gasket. If positive the head can be rebuilt and installed with a new head gasket, if there is no other damage to the engine.
