2000 BMW M Roadster (S52 Motor) - REPEATED problem.

So about a year ago the water pump seized up, and overheated. Had a new pump and serpentine belt replaced and all was good. During our monsoon rains this year, I drove thru a muddy puddle and blew dirty water up into the engine bay. When I was cleaning up under the hood, I dropped a brush into the fan which took out the entire fan and the plastic blades perforated the radiator. Had that fixed and less than a week later the hose that leads to the reserve tank blew off and went into the fan, tore all the blades off and perforated the radiator AGAIN.... Today, that same top hose heated up and expanded into the fan, tore all the blades off, and perforated the radiator AGAIN!!! So far, everything has been replaced in the cooling system; Radiator twice, thermostat, expansion tank all the hoses. The problems seems to be exessive pressure and this one small hose.

ANY ideas on what might be going on? My last thought was that there might be a head gasket leak in the coolant system. The Stange thing is the last two problems were almost the same thing, the top hose leading into the expansion tank interfering with the fan. This last time it did not come off, it just expanded like a balloon and hit the fan blades

HELP! ANY ideas???

Thanks,
Chris

scotty has a video on how to test if your head gasket is blown, I’d recommend you perform that test…

(If you overheat an M52 (/S52) engine - it’ll almost always end up blowing its head gasket)
