Hey Scotty I have a 2000 civic DX with a bad idle it goes up and down and when I drive slow while in first gear it thrusts the car and I wanna fix it but I don’t know what to check.

Clean your throttle body and IAC valve.

hey
is the rpm steady with no throttle input or does the gauge just bounce around?
could be the TPS sensor.
you could test it with a multimeter set to DC volts and prope the red wire then the black lead to ground then actuate the throttle to see if it's a steady increase in voltage or a jump from 1-5 or something like that.
