That thing is over a quarter century old. All parts need to be considered suspect. Fuel pump and rubber parts would probably top the list.

@chucktobias okay so i have another auestion would it be worth the investment on the current motor
D16y8 heads warped but thatnkfully om a water passage
And has overheated quite a few times was gonna take out spark plugs to look at them but cylinder 3 was hard to come out snd was tightening when lossening so i pit it back lol and just went on about my day

If you can do the work yourself it might be worth it but no way if you have to pay a mechanic.

@chucktobias you dont think ill have to worry about the studs when removing the hesd I also will be doing the best and water pump aswell but just wanna make surr as its the only motor i have atm

Do you have studs or bolts? Head bolts are usually "stretch to yield" type and can only be used once.

basically I'd plan my route to never be more than 20 miles from a parts store.

These are still good cars these days, but given the issues you’ve stated, it’s probably not the best example of them

As someone with a 26 year old car, make sure you have your critical components fixed (if they need to be replaced) and top off all your fluids and keep some spare with you.

You haven't specified what motor but you should get the motor fixed. You haven't said which parts of mexico you'd be driving through but im guessing you're going to cross through Nuevo Leon which may be on your travel route. You should be okay, but you should stay away from public roads and drive where there's other around. If you plan to drive in states near Sinaloa I'd be careful because cartels will be lurking around the vicinity and might mistake your car as a rival car and you shouldn't be driving alone or at night.

Safe travels!
