Hello, 2000 miata 5 speed manual. In 4th gear I hear a slight metal brushing against metal noise. Sounds like it is coming from the trans but no issues besides the sound. Any ideas? Thank you

can you give more details? Or better yet , a video?
Do you hear it when idling? driving down the road? Does it change?

What’s the milage on your transmission? What’s the history of fluid change? When was the fluid level checked last? Do you know what type/grade of fluid is in your transmission right now?
All important stuff to guesstimate what the problem might be, …
