I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier XE 2WD 2.4 (KA24DE) that is not getting fuel when I go to start it. The vehicle has been sitting for over a year. I put 5 gallons of gas in it. The fuel gauge still shows empty though, didn't even move. I sort of feel like it's a fuel sending unit or maybe a fuel pump? Any thoughts would be appreciated. This was my dad's vehicle and he is not longer able to drive it.
Do a simple fuel pressure test on the fuel pump. Change your fuel filter too.
For the indicator, yes, it probably needs a new sending unit. Try getting one from a junkyard to troubleshoot first, rather than spending a whole lot of money on a 21yr old Frontier.
The vehicle itself is quite good if mechanically sound.
