2000 nissan Xterra V6 4wd auto. 144k. Belt squeals but mostly on warm startups.

Always stops within a half minute and usally less but is getting worse. Any idea if these sympotms are front main bearings, condesnser, water pump, or pulley? probably not power steering because it doesn't squeal on turns. What's the best way to test this?

get your charging system load tested.

Inspect belt wear and tension.

ahhh. the one thing I forgot. Alternator?

Always load test both the alternator and battery.
Most battery dealers will provide this courtesy service and Autozone too

My mechanic tightend the alternator belt up a bit and sqealing went away but then shortly thereafter the bearing on it started whining and growling so I just replaced it myself yesterday. I would not have been able to do that type of work myself wihtout youtube emotional support and videos.  Thanks!

thanks for reporting back! Glad you got it solved.
