i have a 2000 tdi beetle. It’s got almost 300k miles on it but the top end was rebuilt about 50-60k miles ago. Almost everything everything has been replaced under the hood as of now. I went on a long road trip with zero issues and 5 days after I arrived, it just cranks and won’t start. It first pulled a code for the water temp sensor, I replaced that. Still no start. Sounded like it wasn’t getting fuel. Checked the shut off solenoid it was bad so I replaced that. In the mean time my battery died so I replaced that. Still cranking with no start. I checked/replaced fuses. The 109 relay and the fuel pump relay. I used a vacuum pump to check all my fuel lines from the filter and the pump.. got nothing. I’m torn between it being my fuel pump or a bad computer. I visually looked at my timing belt and it looks fine. I can’t afford to try a fuel pump or a new comp.. please help me!! I’m a single female and I just moved to a new state and I’m no car expert only learning as I go so please bare with me if my terminology isn’t correct. Thank you for any input! This is my daily driver so I’m car-less until I get this sorted.
Off and on knows it's the stupid in tank fuel pump. That's bad. What you can do is stuff a bunch of rags into the exhaust. Believe it or not. That builds up back pressure and oven. That will allow the vehicle to finally crank up and start and if it does then replace the fuel pump in the tank
