2001 Buick Park Ave 112k miles automatic
Hey guys. So, I just changed the automatic transmission fluid and filter on my park ave. Turns out my cheap torque wrench doesn't work so well. I broke a pan bolt! The head broke off. The pan is on there nice and tight. Do you think i'll be OK? I am not seeing any leaks.
the bolt's only job is to hold the pan. It doesn't do anything else. There is no pressure or force on the pan, other than the weight of the fluid.
Just keep an eye on it in case it stars to seep.
With a bit of luck, and your best manual dexterity, and you have a bolt extractor set, you might even be able to repair the problem without dropping the pan.
Thx. I'd really hate to drop the pan again and also buy more fluid. I'm not familiar with bolt extraction! It's a new concept for me.
Look for "scotty extract broken bolt", or without 'scotty' when nothing turns up. It is no rocket science.
ROCKET SOCKET!
