Hey Scotty,
Let me start off by saying I currently don't have a car and I'm trying to not only save money but stay away from car payments. My friend's dad has a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the motor went out a few months ago. I want to get the truck and put a remanufactured motor in it. It had a 4.8L but I want to put a 5.3L motor in it only because I heard the 5.3L last longer. His now 70 year old father took good care of it. He had the tranny rebuilt about 2 years ago, the body is in great condition with no rust dents or dings. Do you think it'll be a good long term daily driver if I dropped a remanufactured motor or should I leave the truck where it sits?
good long term daily driver
no, save that for a project after you already have a reliable car
