I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 v6 engine, i am 17 and it is my first vehicle. My dad bought it for me, and it says on the title it is rebuilt, but he is not a car person at all and did not think to ask if it was the engine or the transmission that was rebuilt. I am wanting to know if it was the engine or the transmission that was rebuilt, is there a way I can figure that out just by looking at the vehicle?
If the car has a rebuilt title, what it means is at some point in its life it was in an accident that did so much damage to it the insurance company declared it a total loss.
It has nothing to do with engine/transmission parts. It simply means it was declared totalled and now has no real value. If it is working now I would have a mechanic check it out to make sure it is safe to drive. Since you already have it, I would drive it as long as possible if the mechanic says it is ok. It is literally worth scrap value so I'm hoping you guys didn't give much for it.
