I have a 2001 Excursion v10. I was throwing a code p0360 and had a misfire. That’s the only code I had. I found a broken wire and connector at the ignition coil while I was swapping the coils to see if that was the problem. The code stayed on cylinder 10 after I swapped coils so I moved on to replacing the connector. I unhooked the battery and spliced in a new connector. I did unplug the ECM connector under the hood somewhere in the process looking for a broken wire before replacing the connector but I unhooked the battery before that as well. Now when I start it it revs up, down, up and then dies within 2-5 seconds and won’t stay running. It doesn’t matter if I have the new connector on cylinder 10 plugged in or not which it would run before this either way just on 9 cylinders. Did I fry the ECM?
You might have fried DCM they're very particular but pay a pro mechanic to reset it with a Sansa scan tool and pray it just messed with the software
What’s a DCM? If that is like the ECM can I just replace it? Maybe have it programmed to my VIN? I haven’t found any honest mechanics yet that can diagnose computer related issues besides the dealership which I want to avoid.
He meant ECM, and they're very expensive. And getting Ford ECMs can be problematic.
