Advice for diesel euro Yaris

Hi Scotty,

1st I love your YouTube channel, thanks for your insights, brilliant mate.

I recently had to scrap my 2005 VW Passat sport tdi (2 broken springs, failed electronic handbrake etc). Handbrake issue had to be fixed by VW themselves which out cost the price of the car, hence scrapping.

Out of desperation and little money I purchased a 2005 Toyota Yaris 1.4 d4d t3 with 116k miles for £500. Rough bodywork but drove fine. Once I got it home I got the wheel alignment fixed and changed oil, fuel and air filter.

Q: is there anything I should be aware of with this model?

Kind regards

Simon. UK. {black}

I’m going to beg to differ with Scotty on this one. I believe the 2005 Yaris is actually a Toyota underneath. Not a Mazda. It is only the more recent generations of Yaris that are Mazda’s.

In Europe they are still made by Toyota. Aygo is another story there.

The 1.4L D4-D is pretty reliable although I’ve heard it may suffer from oil consumption. But for £500, I’d say you made out pretty well.

Yeah just realized the yarises are really Mazdas and they're decent cars not as good as the Toyota Corolla but they're decent transportation cars

The D4D is the Diesel variant of the Euro Yaris which is not related at all to Mazda…
