Hey scotty! Love your channel! Love the website,has a few bugs but you'll work it out!
I have a 2001 monte carlo ss 3.8 series 2 with 194k on her.i really need some help on this "surging"/intermittent misfire.i have done a great deal of work to this car as I have ignorantly fallen for these cars even though they have their issues but alas I cannot figure this one out.it has no reason or rhyme to it.i have changed plugs wires coils,O2 sensors,catted downpipe radiator,upper and lower intake manifold gaskets,plenum,checked grounds changed batteries,terminal bolts, shift solenoids,tcc solenoid,fuel pump and probably a lot more than I can think of at this moment but I cannot figure out how to diagnose this.after I do anything to it it seems to quit for a day or so.it happens intermittently going 50 mph,idle, anywhere,time, mph or rmp.while going at hhgh speeds it seems like a lurch forward while sitting idle it seems like a power draw.i really don't know where to go next.any advice or help is appreciated.im sure you'll say get rid of it but I won't do that.thanks so much in advance.

That car reminds me of the Grand National...remember making fun of a 350 with 2 cylinders cut off! It was a bad a$$ car in it's day!
I didn't read anything about you checking/monitoring fuel pressure when this happens. I'd put a transducer on that fuel rail and watch/record it when it surges. And I presume no codes (including can and trans codes read).
@hillbilly
I have checked fuel pressure,at the rail the first time I was low,that's what make me swap pump and filter.however I have not monitored it when it surges,very good advice.its throwing a lot of codes.mostly abs related and such.i was once told I needed to have a deep scan.i have not read the codes personally.had them check at AutoZone.i suppose I should drop the money and get a decent code reader and diy that too.
I think that is an excellent idea ; )
