My brake lights do not work. On my instrument panel, the bulb not working light is illuminated. How do I diagnose and/or repair?
Center light has two light. One of the lights is turns on.
The 20-year-old switch on the brake pedal may have failed. Check it.
What is the procedure to remove the switch? At least two panels need to be removed. First panel is easy. Second panel needs directions.
I have no idea since I've never worked on one of those. In general it will be on the brake pedal linkage and once you can access that area it should be self-evident how it comes out. Usually it either clips into place or it might be secured by some kind of fastener. Some have an adjustment and some do not.
The switch is not the problem. How do I test and check the lamp assembly and module set up?
Also check for low brake fluid in the reservoir. It usually has a float that will turn on the brake dash light if the fluid is too low.
The switch is not the problem. How do I test and check the lamp assembly and module set up?
Check to see if 12 volts is being sent to the lamp assembly when the brake pedal is depressed. To test the module you will need a dealer-level bidirectional scan tool.
