when I had my oil pan off I checked the bearings and they both were a little loose....is that normal?
Those rod bearings aren't supposed to noticeably move. There's a tolerance factor of ten-thousandths of an inch. The engine spins at up to 6,000 RPMs, that's a lot of mass when it's rotating at that speed (the spark plugs fire 25 times per second -it looks continuous to the naked eye!). They require very precise tolerances, certainly not enough for you to wiggle.
@justin-shepherd Yeah, it doesn't sound good. It's surprising the engine isn't knocking, those rod bearings take a real pounding.
Hopefully he start driving it delicately, I'm surprised it not knocking, either.

Which bearings? An engine has more than two.
Also, for future reference, when posting a topic please use the subject line for a short description of your car issue, not just a description of the vehicle. Thank you.
@chucktobias rod bearings....seemed just a tad bit movable
@wrench Doesn't sound promising. Plastigauge is usually used to check bearing clearance but that requires engine disassembly.
