On my 2002 Ford Taurus SE with 145,769 miles, after driving for more than 10 or 15 minutes when you come to a stop the oil light comes on, when you accelerate the light goes off and stays off until you come to a stop again. So its off as long as you are driving, but comes on when you stop. I changed the oil pressure sensor because some people on you tube said they had the same problem and fixed it by changing Oil pressure sensor. This however did not fix my problem. What can it be? The oil has been changed regularly and the vehicle has been very well maintained. The engine does not knock or make noises it runs real smooth as if it were new. Thanks. E.G.
You need to hook up a mechanical gauge and see what the actual oil pressure is.
It could be a bad oil pressure sending unit. Happened to me. Hopefully, your oil pump is not going bad causing it to not pump enough oil at idle. Have a good mechanic [ not a dealer bozo] check it out.
