Hey Scotty, I have a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis that sometimes dies after being turned off but I am able to jump it with just cables and no other vehicle or jump starter, what could be the problem? My other question is that my 12v cigarette lighter in the cup holder doesn’t work at all after changing it and the one under my glove box flickers in and out so much that it’s unusable, PLEASE Help, Thanks
This means there's a dead short somewhere in the circuit. Check the wiring from the fuse panel to the lighter. There must be a bare wire touching metal somewhere, or in the lighter socket itself.
Check for a short circuit or bad fuse in the circuit that controls the lighter. Since it's not a switched circuit, it could be creating a parasitic draw, killing your battery to the extent that it won't activate the starter. Scotty has several videos on "Finding a Parasitic Draw."
Thanks for the response, ended up being a blown fuse which I changed then when I went to use the cigarette lighter it proceeded to blow 3 more fuses , any ideas?
