Hello everyone. I’ve been looking at pre-2003 Nissan Maxima’s because they look good, have good reliability and overall a good car. The question is: “Is it a good first car purchase? Is there something I need to look out for?”

They can be pretty good first cars if you are the type of person who doesn't drive over the speed limit all the time since they are fast sedans, HOWEVER they are becoming harder to find in nice shape as a lot of them have been wrecked or rusted out. Early 2000s Maximas (not the 2004-2008 gen which was cheaper made and looked more like a French car than a Japanese car, especially 2004-2006) were great cars, made in Japan, looked good, strong V6 engine, and had great auto transmissions. Make sure you find a nice one, have a mechanic check it out, and if it's all good, go ahead.

Thanks. So, look out for the body damage or rust. I live in Sacramento, California where there’s no snow.

yeah then you should be able to find a nice one, just make sure to not overpay for one if it's got higher mileage and older.
