Scotty,
I have a 2002 Toyota Highlander with 260k miles. On days when the temperature is below 40F the car has to be driven a couple miles before it will shift into overdrive. What to do?

You can try visiting a transmission expert, but with 260k it's probably just worn out. The vehicle isn't worth a new tranny.
I would keep driving it and start thinking about a new vehicle.
