I have a 2002 VW beetle and the transmission acts a little weird...it shifts in every gear perfectly going down the road....but sometimes if I haven't driven it for awhile then go out and put it in drive it has about a 4 second delay then it will kick in...but if I cycle through all the gears like from park to drive then back up it don't do it...lol...what's up......if it was low on fluid it wouldn't even shift right to begin with would it
if it was low on fluid it wouldn't even shift right to begin with would it
That is not a good assumption, you should check fluid level and condition. When is the last time the transmission was serviced?
At that age and mileage it may just be wearing out.
Never ever
There's your problem.
.if it was low on fluid it wouldn't even shift right to begin with would it
If your transmission fluid is low, you will notice a delay, aka not shifting properly, and it could overheat your transmission. My '79 Pontiac Catalina would start having the same problem when the transmission fluid was low. To confirm it was low, I'd pull out the dipstick after it reached operating temperature, and it would be a quart low. After I put AT-205 in the transmission, it stopped leaking. The transmission has never been replaced. It was coming from the input shaft seal. You need to determine where it's leaking.

it's not shifting right
4 second delay then it will kick in
