So me and my wife moved to clarksville Tennessee this year due to her being in the army and so naturally we had to buy a car for her to get around and whatnot. We settled on a 2003 toyota camry from Facebook marketplace because we wanted something reliable and cheap. Last month however, my wife started having a loss of acceleration and it got pretty bad to the point where going up a hill it'd struggle to get 15 mph. We had taken it to auto zone a month before and it popped a p0420 cat code so I assumed it was the catalytic converter. With the help of a friend we took out the cat to inspect it but it looked to be fine and relatively clean. After putting it back together the car still had bad acceleration and then shut off after about 15 minutes. It turned off and on about 2 times before it stopped turning on completely, although thankfully we made it to our apartments. If anyone has any ideas as to what could be happening it would be EXTREMELY appreciated 🙏

Have you checked for other possible causes of this code? https://www.kbb.com/obd-ii/p0420/

Check to see if your fuel filter is clogged. If not pressure test your fuel system (at the rail) and the fuel pump itself. Chances are your fuel pump is starting to fail. You failed to mention the mileage on your car but being that its 22 years old chances are something in the fuel system is worn out.

@fishingandcarsenthusiast123 sorry forgot to mention but the car is at 157k miles not sure if that helps much but thanks for the suggestions, I will definitely look into the fuel pump and and fuel filter👌
Forgot to mention this but ever since the car stopped starting, the battery and oil lights came up.
