Hey Scotty,

i have a 2003 Camry XLE 2.4 , automatic, and I have a issue where , when I turn on my car on cold start everyday in the morning , it blows blue smoke I know it’s oil burning but I don’t know what it can be . If you can help me out it would be great!! Also my engine light came on and was wondering if it can be from the same reason. The check engine light is from Catalytic converter bank 1. The light comes on and off for a few days.

@gerardo
Smoking at startup usually indicates bad valve seats. If it clears after startup, it’s probably the valve seats. Burning excessive oil can clog the cat converters and in turn cause the code you are getting. Scotty put out a video showing how to use paint thinner to help unclog or clean the cat converter if it is not to far gone. Hope this helps

@gerardo
+1 for bad valve seals. Not a huge issue, except for potential cat. conv. damage. Repair could be expensive.

it happens as engines age. Repair or drive it into the ground.
