Hello I have a 2003 e320. Recently my car started to shake in drive only. Car seems to drive fine, no issues that I can notice. When it first started to happen it would come and go. Few times you can shut car in and off and it would go away. As time went on it got worse. Sometimes it isn't that bad, but most of time it shakes like crazy. It only happens in drive. When in  park, neutral, reverse it's fine. Another thing I noticed is when coming to a stop it will start to vibrate right before coming to full stop. You also feel a slight blog when stopping and car down shifting to first gear before full stop. You also can feel a very slight miss in park every 10 seconds or so but car doesn't vibrate. I replaced coils, plugs, wires, map, cam position sensor, can sensor, coolant temp sensor. Car has 127,000 miles . I bought car used months back and decided to replace things that go bad that are cheap listed above. There is no check engine light, pending codes ECT. Im thinking it might be a maf, tps or pedal sensor. When looking at live data everything seems fine tho. I have no idea what's going on. Really hope you can help .

Heck I'd check all the motor mounts and transmission mounts first if you have no codes

Thank you for getting back to me. I love your channel, its good to see a honest mechanic since 98% of them are cons, frauds and or low life scumbags . Yesterday I sprayed whole can of seafoam top engine cleaner used mostly in gdi engines. After letting it sit for 20 min I drove as instructed and car stopped shaking and vibrating completely. But it started doing it again this morning. Im going to replace motor mounts. The engine seems to have little more movement then it should. Either way it can't hurt anything to replace. Especially since I plan on keeping car for st least 2 years

Check for your vacuum leaks first, then scan it for any codes.

Passed smoke test, no codes at all. Nothing pending or enhanced codes. I personally think it a vacuum leak or faulty fuel injector(s). I might just replace the manifold and throttle gasket since those are weak on these cars. Plus I have the parts laying around someplace. Nothing to lose

I would clean the MAF sensor, IAC valve and throttle body. Also, run some fuel injector cleaner.

Ditto. First things I did when it started to happen. Before I do anything else I'm going to replace the mass air flow. Buddy is sending me a OEM for free. He said this happened to him 3 times 3 different Mercedes. Common issue with aging mass air . Part is free nothing to lose

Threw a mil light. 3 codes. Bank 1 sensor 2 circuit and heater o2 sensor. Bank 1 sensor 1 circuit fault pending. Bank 1 sensor 1 is a phantom/ false code caused by bad bank 2 o2 sensor. Tested sensor and it lags , doesn't respond at times. Unplugged and car drives fine. Plugged in a old down stream o2 and no issues

"Bank 1 sensor 1 is a phantom/ false code caused by bad bank 2 o2 sensor"
This appears weird to me. Could be an independent issue.
I had all sorts of o2-related codes in my life on a Benz, but never ever has one bank´s sensor triggered a false error on a different bank.

Cars fixed all fuel trims are perfect all issues are gone and mil shut off . No pending or enhanced codes. For fun I Reinstalled faulty bank 1 sensor 2 . Everything went right back to how it was . Same codes everything. ....My buddy has the same car as me. He had misfire all cylinders. Cam position fault, lean code and egr code. it would go limp, shake, stall. No one could figure out what was wrong. He gave me the car to look at and I noticed on live data the engine temp was reading slow . Replaced engine coolant temp sensor and car was fixed. Mercedes can be weird cars at times. Another time my neighbors 330 had mil on and non stop Limp mode, . It was the Reverse light. It burned out threw code for conductor plate/ speed sensor. I've seen quite a few weird issues with Benz. It seems like 2000 to 2009 are the worst.

Neighbors had 2004 e500. Not 330

Mercedes e320 2003. 146,000 miles. No check engine light . Car shakes, vibrates in idle and Bogs down when stopping. It happens only is drive for most part. You thought motor mounts are to blame . Lately I noticed in park the rpms slightly move. It bounces around by 25 to 75. When it happens you can feel a very slight misfire. Also I noticed after driving around for awhile it starts to go away. Also when it's warmer outside it's not as bad. Can it be a vacuum leak or a faulty gasket. Is it possible I have a bad fuel injector. There is a tapping noise that comes and goes from time to time. I know the manifold gaskets aren't that great in these cars. Another thing I noticed was my long term fuel trims when driving local  bank 1 (3.1 to 4.7) bank 2 (3.9 to 6.9.) ..When driving highway and just cruising bank 1 has dropped down to (0.6) and up to (1.7) bank 2 (1.9 to 2.7). Usually I can figure what's wrong in a few min but I'm stumped with this. Hope this new info can norrow it down

Last year I posted my Mercedes had a really bad shake and vibration. I cannot find the old post so I'll just make a new one. As some of you know my Mercedes would shake and vibrate. It would start at low speeds and get progressively worse the faster you go. I finally decided to really look over the car and fix it.

I jacked it up and started looking at the suspension components. I found out that some of the parts are worn which is causing a slight clunk when turning but nothing that would cause shaking and vibration while driving.

I took a step back and thought of all the possibilities. Finally I said out loud I'm a <edited. -mod> idiot. My tires must be out if balance. Why didn't I think of this first. I move the front tires to the rear and vice versa and go for a drive. I  hop on the highway and give it gas. The vibration and shaking is almost gone.

I figured I'll let you know it was fixed and the cause. Hopefully this can help someone in the future.
