2003 Explorer transmission issue

Hey Scotty! I have a 2003 Ford Explorer with 145k miles. 25k on a reman engine. (V-6 4-door 4x4) The original owner is my fiancé. (Her ex let the engine blow!) She does not recall ever servicing the trans. Only issue is in cold weather, the trans takes a few miles before shifting into overdrive. The OD button on the shifter is on. And I’ve tried pressing it on and off to see any changes. It shifts smoothly otherwise, just late in the cold.

After about three miles it shifts into OD and the rpms go normal. Always and only in cold weather. I’m hesitant to change trans fluid because I watch your channel and have learned a lot. Any thoughts? Thank you!

Are you sure you're not confusing OD with torque converter clutch lockup? TCC won't lock until tranny reaches operating temp.
