Hi, I was looking to get opinions on 2003 ford mustang gt convertible v8 auto with 181,000. Are they reliable and is there anything I should look out for, thanks
The 2V 4.6L GT's were excellent cars and could run forever with little maintenance. Parts are also very cheap and the 4.6L 2V motor spark sequence produces literally one of the best-sounding V8 motors you can get when paired with a good exhaust system.
I'd check it out. Common problems on those cars:
*Rear differential whine
*ABS module failure
*Loose steering
*Torn outer seat bolsters
*Cracked 3rd brake lights
*Oxidized headlight and fog light Assemblies
*Alternator failure
*Factory head unit failure
That's about it and they are small repairs. If you aren't spending much on it, it makes the perfect weekend cruiser.
The problem with people buying used muscle cars with V8 is that people beat their cars too hard and don't treat them like babies. So I would pass on the vehicle. Also, you never mention the price.
They are the original owner, they said it was babied and it does appear to be very well maintained. They are asking $4500
Check with the mechanic. If it's in good condition, I would ask for $3500.
