Hi Scotty. I have an automatic 2003 Ford ranger xlt 4.0 Liter v6 with only 70,200 miles. When idling at about 500 rpm it will occasionally lose power and drop to almost 0 rpm as if it’s about to shut down and then regain power. This issue started last fall but has been occurring a lot more frequently. My truck actually did shut down idling at a stop light recently but turned back on after trying to turn the key a couple times. The spark plugs were all replaced last year, the o2 sensors have been replaced, and the idle air control valve has been replaced.
thank you for your time.
Well tons of things can do that. Start with new air filter, new fuel filter, new spark plugs. If that doesn't fix it, check for vacuum leaks on the engine and try my cleaning video. Make your car run better with a little spray cleaner. Scotty
