I have a 2003 Grand Cherokee, inline 6, 4 speed auto 4WD. It whistles when I take my foot off the gas and the whistling stops when I steap on the gas. sometimes it is not as loud other times it is very loud. I have read that it could be EVAP but I thought I would ask the question before I dive too deep.

Did you check for vacuum leaks? It could be that. If there is a leak, then it could be the EVAP.

Seeing as how it is 18 years old I'd check all vacuum lines. A small vacuum leak could make that kind of sound.
