Friend of mines has a Jeep Liberty and it knocks at idle and when he accelerates the knocking picks up speed.

Check the bearings, knock sensor, spark plugs and timing belt. The car might have also have bad gas or the wrong gas put in by accident or your car might be running too lean.

Does it have enough oil in it? How often has it been changed?

Okay the oils is changed every 2,000 miles
Can you provide a video that demonstrates the sound?
