Hi everyone, my 03 grand marquis has 193,560 miles so for a year and two months the sterring was stiff at idling, and pump whines, once moving felt slightly heavier than any regular PS car, now at idle its even harder, and wheel feel like bad bearing, grindy while turning mech had it 5 days, pump swapped, no fix, new rack, no fix, mech friend said air in system, so im gonna try that monday, bleed it as much as i can, btw, PS reservoir is at minimum, line, should i add regular motorcraft mercon ATF and ps fluid, or add Mercon V. A couple ppl and friends said mercon v is better than regular mercon. Please i need advice from anyone, im scared i might need a new rack and pinion because of the grindy bearing feel while turning the wheel

I thought you already got a new rack installed? Also, was the replacement pump brand new?

Rack was new to me, but was a rebuilt from a junkyard, the pump as well. Scotty did say odds are I’ll need a new rack and pinion, I’ll just have to find an absolutely new one
